Curio Syncing Error

If the machine status for the Curio model displays a syncing error, this is usually due to a failure with proper loading of the Curio base.

Checking the Curio Base

To resolve this concern:

  1. Close Silhouette Studio
  2. Power off the Curio machine
  3. Insert the base into the front of the Curio
  4. Push the base inward until the leading edge of the base extends out the back of the Curio
  5. Power on the Curio
  6. Re-open Silhouette Studio

If the base has been properly loaded, both indicator lights on the right side of the machine should be steadily illuminated.

If one of the indicator lights continues to blink, reattempt the steps above to properly align and load the base.

Curio Tool Holder Calibration

If your Curio model requires the tools to be calibrated for proper Print & Cut alignment, you can do the following to calibrate the the dual tools holders of your machine.

Calibration Instructions

  1. Open Silhouette Studio
  2. Connect the Curio machine via USB to the computer
  3. Place a sheet of material onto the Curio cutting mat
  4. Load the base into the Curio
  5. Insert the blade into the left-hand holder (indicated by a red circle)
  6. Insert the fine embossing tool into the right-hand holder (indicated by a blue circle)
  7. Go to the SEND panel in Silhouette Studio
  8. Right-click on the Curio image
  9. Select the Tool Separation menu option
  10. Use the up/down/left/right arrows to position the tool holder above your loaded material
  11. Click on the Tool Separation Test option

NOTE: The Cross 1 image will be cut by the blade using the left-hand tool holder. The Cross 2 image will be debossed by the embossing tool using the right-hand tool holder.

On a correctly calibrated machine, the cut lines of Cross 1 will coincide precisely with the center line of the deboss lines of Cross 2 in both the horizontal and vertical lines. In such a case, no further action is required.

If the crosses are not aligned:

  1. Adjust the X and/or Y values in order to correct the horizontal and/or vertical positions relative to oberservations made.
  2. Move the Curio's starting position using the position arrows to a new location over your material and click the Tool Separation Test option anew to confirm the adjustments are correct.
  3. Repeat steps 10 and 11 as needed until alignment is precisely centered with both tools.

Curio Platforms Not Displayed in Settings

If you are not able to see the platforms setting required for using the Curio cutting machine, this typically indicates that the Curio is not on and/or not connected to the computer.

Please make sure that you have your Curio turned on and that the software sees a connection before proceeding to look up the platforms needed for your cut.
