# The Silhouette Cloche' Heat Press: Understanding the Power-On Delay
If you’ve recently purchased the Silhouette Cloche' Heat Press and it is not powering on or noticed a slight delay when powering it on, don’t worry! This is a normal part of the startup process. Below are the steps to ensure your heat press is set up correctly and ready for use.
### Step-by-Step Setup
1. **Remove All Packing**: Begin by carefully unpacking your heat press. Ensure that you remove all protective packaging materials. Once cleared, connect the power cord to the heat press and plug it into a wall outlet.
2. **Unlock the Handle**: To access the heating surface, unlock the handle. Gently lift the lid open, ensuring it is fully raised before proceeding.
3. **Check for Internal Packing**: It’s crucial to check the inside of the heat press for any remaining packing materials. After confirming it’s clear, place the silicone press mat inside the machine. This mat is essential for even heat distribution and protecting your projects.
4. **Power Up the Heat Press**: Turn the power dial all the way up by twisting it clockwise and then start turning it back down slowly . You may notice the green light illuminate and start blinking. This indicates that the machine is heating up.
5. **Set Your Temperature**: Adjust the dial to your desired temperature setting:
- **Low (L)**: 248° F (120° C) – Turn the dial to the left.
- **Medium (M)**: 320° F (160° C) – Position the dial in the middle.
- **High (H)**: 392° F (200° C) – Turn the dial to the far right.
The green light will stop blinking and remain solid when the set temperature is reached, indicating that the heat press is ready for use. If left beyond a certain time frame the press will beep intermittently to remind you it is heated and ready for use. It will continue to beep until you either power off or close the lid to make your project.
### Closing the Lid
When you’re ready to close the lid, make sure to push in on the handle lock located at the bottom right side of the handle. To secure the handle, lift the lock on the front out and up over the handle, then push in on the bottom of the lock to secure it in place. This ensures safety and stability during operation.
