Silhouette machines include free design content that is tailored to the machine model. This content allows you to get started creating jobs right out of the box. This content is offered for free with registration of your machine with Silhouette.


To obtain your free-with-machine content (machine models offered after 2018):

  1. Register your machine
  2. Open the software program for your machine
  3. Go to the Library
  4. Sign into your account
    NOTE: You must use the same account information for the address your machine was registered under
  5. Locate the "Free with Machine" folder
    NOTE: Your content will be located in this folder under the machine model name

Older Cutting Machine Models

Includes: Cameo 1, Cameo 2, Cameo 3, Portrait 1, Portrait 2, or Curio 1


To obtain your free-with-machine content for older machine models:

  1. Connect the USB cord from your computer to the Silhouette machine
  2. Connect the power cord to the machine and a power outlet
  3. Power on the Silhouette machine
  4. Open Silhouette Studio
    NOTE: Make sure you are running the latest software version available
  5. Go to the SEND panel
  6. Verify your machine is connected and displays a 'Ready' status
  7. Once your machine can be confirmed as connected, the content should be loaded into your Library

If the content is still missing:


  1. Close Silhouette Studio
  2. Power off the Silhouette machine
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from both the Silhouette machine and the computer
  4. Disconnect the power cable from the Silhouette machine
  5. Firmly plug in and power on the Silhouette cutting machine after a minute of being unplugged
  6. Firmly connect the USB cable directly to the machine AND directly to the computer, bypassing any USB hubs
    NOTE: All connections should be made using Silhouette cables. Other cables are not guaranteed to be compatible with the Silhouette cutting machines.
  7. Open Silhouette Studio
  8. Go to the SEND panel
  9. Verify your machine is connected and displays a 'Ready' status
  10. Once your machine can be confirmed as connected, the content should be loaded into your Library


If the Silhouette machine is plugged in and detected but the pre-loaded images still do not show up, perform the following steps:


  1. Go to the Edit menu on the top toolbar
  2. Go to Preferences
  3. Go to Advanced
  4. Select the 'Restore pre-loaded designs' option
