About the Auto-Loading Feature

The Cameo 4 includes an auto-loading feature. When the loading arrow on the Cameo 4 model is flashing, this indicates that the machine is waiting for you to load your cutting mat or material into the machine.

To use the auto-loading feature:

  1. Power on the Cameo
  2. Press and hold the loading arrow for 3 seconds
NOTE: The loading arrow will begin to flash
  3. Hold your cutting mat or material up against the roller bar

Your cutting mat or material will then be pulled into the machine and the arrow will stop flashing. You can then proceed to send your job when ready.

Disabling the Media Sensor

If the loading buttons continue to flash despite attempting to load your material or are inaccessible after powering on your Cameo 4, or if you just want to disable the auto-loading feature, please do the following:

NOTICE TO MAC USERS: The suggested firmware update to correct the Cameo 4 button flashing issue is not currently compatible with macOS Monterey. You may need to perform this action on another computer device if you are on macOS Monterey.

  1. Download and install the latest version of Silhouette Studio
  2. Open Silhouette Studio
  3. Go to the SEND panel
  4. Right-click on the connected machine icon
  5. Uncheck the 'Enable Media Sensor' option
  6. Power off the Silhouette cutting machine
  7. Check the loading sensor and clear any debris or obstructions
NOTE: The Loading Sensor is the small hole directly in front of the left-hand pinch roller
  8. Disconnect the USB cable from both the Silhouette cutting machine and the computer
  9. Disconnect the power cable from the Silhouette cutting machine
  10. Firmly plug in and power on the Silhouette cutting machine after a minute of being unplugged
  11. Firmly connect the USB cable directly to the machine AND directly to the computer (bypassing any USB hubs)
NOTE: All connections should be made using Silhouette cables. Other cables are not guaranteed to be compatible with the Silhouette cutting machines

If this corrected the issue, turn the media sensor back on as follows:

  1. Open Silhouette Studio
  2. Go to the SEND panel
  3. Right-click on the connected machine icon
  4. Ensure that the 'Enable Media Sensor' option is checked
