If your Cameo 3 firmware is bricked, please perform the following steps.

Re-Run Firmware Update

  1. Unplug the power cord from the machine
  2. Hold the power button down and then plug the power cable back in
  3. Continue to hold down the power button until the LCD screen turns light blue
  4. Download and launch the latest firmware version update
  5. Once you see the window “Please connect the Cameo and power it on”, press [Ctrl]+[Shift] on your keyboard and then click the "OK" option on the screen as these keyboard buttons are being held down

This action will re-send the firmware update to the Cameo 3 and should resolve the concern.

Additional Troubleshooting

If continued concerns are encountered, you will need to manually re-update the machine's firmware by doing the following:

  1. Download the following zip files:
  2. Unzip these files to your desktop
  3. Open the 'send2cutter' folder
NOTE: This file contains the following files
    a. InstallDriver.exe (installs a driver to allow manual sending of firmware updates)
    b. send2cutter.exe (program to send manual updates)
  4. Run the InstallDriver.exe program by double-clicking the file
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts
  6. Once finished, hold down the power button on Cameo and plug the power adapter into the Cameo.
NOTE: You will need to hold down the power button until a light blue screen is shown.
  7. Run the 'send2cutter.exe' application
  8. Ensure the Output field is set to Cameo 3 (or may read as “Cameo 2” -- just ensure that the Cameo 3 is the only connected Silhouette machine to the computer and it will display the correct option according to what it finds)
  9. Select All Files under the "Files of Type" field
  10. Navigate to where you have saved the Cameo3EXT_V170.bin file and select it. This should be in the CAMEO3_FWUP_W_V170 folder on your desktop where you saved it
  11. Press the Send button
NOTE: The update process can take up to 10 minutes
  12. Once LCD on Cameo 3 displays dark blue, the process is completed
  13. Unplug the power cord from the Cameo
  14. Repeat steps 7 - 14 substituting Cameo3_V170.bin (should be in the CameoFirmwareUpdateV170 folder) on step 11
NOTE: This update process goes much quicker

Once all steps are completed, you will need to uninstall the driver as follows:

  1. Go to your Control Panel
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall A Program
  3. Find and select Windows Driver Package - Silhouette USB Cutter
  4. Click Uninstall or Remove
