Silhouette Studio license keys unlock upgraded editions on up to three personal devices simultaneously. Software upgrades are optional purchases.


Once a license key has been applied to your Silhouette account, the upgrade edition for Silhouette Studio will be unlocked as you sign into your account in the software. This software upgrade is tied directly to your account and cannot be shared with others.

Purchased from Silhouette


If you have purchased a software upgrade directly from SilhouetteAmerica.com, the license key will automatically be applied to the account you purchased it under, and you can do the following to unlock your upgrade edition.


NOTE: This will work for instances where the software has lost the upgrade and reverted back to the Standard Edition, or if you're just applying the upgrade to a new computer you own. We recommend using the latest software version to ensure proper application.


  1. Open Silhouette Studio
  2. Go to Help > Apply Upgrade Edition
  3. Enter your Silhouette account information (your email address and password)
  4. Click on the 'Activate' button


The software will check your account and apply the software upgrade automatically.


NOTE: If the above steps fail or you are not seeing the same options in the software, please make sure you have updated your software to version 4.5 or higher as instructed above.


Purchased from Authorized Retail Partner


If you have purchased a license key from one of our Authorized Retail partners, you can do the following to apply the license key and unlock your upgrade edition:


NOTE: We strongly recommend using the latest software version to ensure proper application.


  1. Open Silhouette Studio
  2. Go to Help > Apply Upgrade Edition
  3. Enter your Silhouette account information (your email address and password)
  4. Click on the 'Activate' button
  5. Enter the license key code when prompted


After you have applied the upgrade to your account from any device, you will no longer need to enter your license key code on other future devices.


NOTE: If the above steps fail or you are not seeing the same options in the software, please make sure you have updated your software to version 4.5 or higher as instructed above.
