Silhouette Studio can open SVG files when using the Designer Edition or above. Some files may encounter strange design placement in the Silhouette Studio software when opened.

Design Placement

Silhouette Studio will place the designs from the SVG file according to the original placement found within the SVG file. Some SVG files have designs placed in odd locations. This is based on how the file was originally created and saved. This behavior is not a fault of the Silhouette Studio program.

Placement Workaround

You can override the original design placement from the SVG file and force it to be centered in the cutting area as follows:

  1. Open Silhouette Studio
  2. Go to the Edit > Preferences > Import
  3. Under the SVG section, select 'Centered' as the preferred 'Document Position'
  4. Click OK
