If the Silhouette Studio program appears blurry on your Mac computer or laptop, this issue likely indicates a conflict with the retina display on your Mac. The resolution of the software may be set higher than it is currently capable of displaying. 


Updating Retina Display

To fix this issue:

  1. Close Silhouette Studio
  2. Open the Finder
  3. Go to the Go menu
  4. Select Applications
  5. Click on Silhouette Studio
  6. Choose 'Get info'
  7. Place a checkmark next to 'Open in Low Resolution'
    NOTEThis option may not exist with newer macOS versions.
  8. Close the window
  9. Open Silhouette Studio

Alternate Update Option


If you are unable to perform the steps above, you can alternately do the following:

  1. Click on the Apple menu
  2. Select System Preferences
  3. Select Displays > Display
  4. Select 'Default for display'
    NOTEIf you have your display set to scaled, you'll want to select 'Default' or 'More space'
  5. Close the Display window after making your selection
  6. Press Command + Space on your keyboard
  7. Type "Terminal"
  8. Double-click on the Terminal app to open it
  9. Paste the following command into the Terminal app:
    defaults -currentHost write -g AppleFontSmoothing -int 0
  10. Press enter to execute the command
  11. Restart your computer
