If you encounter a 'Too Many Devices' error message (or 'User Maxed', 'Error 550', or 'Error 551'), this indicates you have exceeded the allotted number of allowable 'Active Devices' for your account.

NOTE: The term 'Device' includes computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones


Library Access Allowance


Your Silhouette library allows the following access:

  • Concurrently connected devices: 3 maximum
    NOTE: This is how many devices/computers you can have actively connected to your library
  • Active devices: 10 maximum
    NOTE: This is how many devices/computers you can have actively available to potentially connect to your library
  • Lifetime devices: 50 maximum
    NOTE: This is how many devices/computers you can ever have on your account to potentially connect to your library



Resolving the Error


To resolve this error, you will need to deactivate unused/unwanted devices in order to allow your current device to connect. 

To do so:

  1. Go to your Silhouette account management page
  2. Sign in, if prompted
  3. Scroll down to the 'Cloud Management' section
  4. Select Deactivate next to any device that is no longer in use
  5. Click 'Update' at the bottom of the page
  6. Enter your account password to confirm the intended action
