Though reinstalling the software can sometimes patch up potential conflicts, some situations may require you to completely remove the application and all system folders to start over from scratch. This is referred to as a "clean installation".


NOTE: The steps below will erase all library content, custom material settings, and any other default preferences you may have adjusted. After following these steps, you will be on an entirely clean version of the software that is no longer tied to any previous action taken on the computer in question.


Backing Up Content

Prior to following the steps below, if you need to back up any files you have saved in the software library, you can do one of the following:

Performing Clean Install


Once you are ready, follow the instructions below:

1. Removing the Application


  1. Restart the computer
  2. Press [Windows]+R on the keyboard simultaneously 
  3. In the Run window type: control panel
  4. Press Enter
  5. Select the option for Programs > Programs and Features
  6. Select Silhouette Studio
  7. Select the option to Uninstall


2. Removing System Folders


  1. Press [Windows]+R on the keyboard simultaneously
  2. In the Run window type: %programdata%
  3. Press Enter
  4. Delete the following folders:
    com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.8
    com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.license
    boost_interprocess
  5. Press [Windows]+R on the keyboard simultaneously
  6. In the Run window type: %appdata%
  7. Press Enter
  8. Delete the following folders:
    com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio
    com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.helper
    com.silhouettesoftware
  9. Empty the Recycle Bin
  10. Restart the computer


3. Reinstalling & Recovering


  1. Install the current version of Silhouette Studio
  2. Recover your library and software upgrade
