Though reinstalling the software can sometimes patch up potential conflicts, some situations may require you to completely remove the application and all system folders to start over from scratch. This is referred to as a "clean installation".
NOTE: The steps below will erase all library content, custom material settings, and any other default preferences you may have adjusted. After following these steps, you will be on an entirely clean version of the software that is no longer tied to any previous action taken on the computer in question.
Backing Up Content
Prior to following the steps below, if you need to back up any files you have saved in the software library, you can do one of the following:
- Create a backup copy of your library that can be reimported manually after the software is reinstalled
Performing Clean Install
Once you are ready, follow the instructions below:
1. Removing the Application
- Restart the computer
- Select the Go menu at the top of the desktop
- Select the Applications option
- Drag ALL instances of Silhouette Studio to the Trash
2. Removing System Folders
- Open the Finder
- Press [Cmd]+[Shift]+G
- Type in /Library/Application Support
- Press Return
- Delete the following folders:
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.8 (if present)
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.license
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio - Re-open the Finder
- Press [Cmd]+[Shift]+G
- Type in ~/Library/Application Support
- Press Return
- Delete the following folders:
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.8 (if present) - Re-open the Finder
- Press [Cmd]+[Shift]+G
- Type in ~/Library/Preferences
- Press Return
- Delete the following folders:
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio
com.aspexsoftware.silhouette_studio.helper - Empty the Trash
- Restart the computer
