Accepted Payment Methods

The following forms of payment are accepted on Silhouette websites.

Managing Credit Cards

Adding/Updating Cards

You can add or update a credit card on your account by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Silhouette Account.
  2. Select Subscription  from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on Manage next to the subscription you want to update.
  4. Choose or add the new card. Select it and then click Save.
  5. If successful, you will receive a change confirmation after saving.


Pre-Authorization Charge

A pre-authorization of $1.00 may be assessed whenever a new credit card is added or updated.

  • This does not indicate any actual charge was made to your card.
  • It is a temporary pre-authorization to confirm the validity of the credit card.


Credit Card Processing Issues

If your credit card update or addition fails, please ensure the following:

  • All fields are completely filled out.
  • The expiration date is correct.
  • The security code (CVV) is correct.
  • You have both a first name and last name entered. If you only have a first initial, make sure there is a space between the initial and last name.
  • Avoid using non-English characters (such as accent marks), as they may cause issues with processing your card information.
  • If you’ve previously updated your card information, try reverting to the original address for the card.


Missed Payments Handling

If you have any missed payments (e.g., from previous subscription payments), they will be automatically charged once the new or updated card is successfully saved.



Credit Card Declined or Failing to Add

If you are encountering issues where you are unable to add your credit card to your account, or the card is being declined, we recommend the following actions:

NOTE: If you have attempted to add a card to your account too many times in a short period of time, your account will become locked from being able to add cards for a 24-hour period. You will need to wait and try again later.


  • Double-check your card information
    Aside from verifying all information, please check the following points that can cause credit card processing to fail:
    • Ensure all fields are completely filled out
    • Ensure that the expiration date is correct 
    • Ensure that the security code field for your card is correct
    • Ensure you have both a first name and last name present. If you only have a first initial on your card, ensure there is a space between the first initial and the last name.
    • Avoid using non-English characters (those with accent marks of any kind) as they may cause problems with processing your card information.
  • Contact your bank
    Even if you have sufficient funds, there may be a concern with the card's attempted transaction. Unfortunately, the errors we can see on our end are only basic information. Due to privacy laws, your bank will only work with you directly to provide detailed information as to why this error is being encountered.

  • Update your currency
    If you are outside of the US and are being charged in an alternate currency, update your currency to US Dollars. There may be a concern with how your bank is allowing the charge to go through on a foreign site in your currency.

  • Use an alternate credit card
    If all else fails, you may need to use an alternate credit card to successfully process your purchase.

Updating Cards for Memberships & Subscriptions

You are not able to delete cards assigned to Silhouette Design Store subscriptions or Club Silhouette membership monthly payments. However, you can update the credit card assignment for these services as follows:


To update the card associated with your Silhouette Design Store subscription:

  1. Add a new credit card to your account.
  2. Sign in at the silhouettedesignstore.com
  3. Click on Subscriptions on the left side of the page, then click Manage next to the subscription you want to update.
  4. After confirming the card you want to use, click Save.

To update the card associated with your Club Silhouette membership:

  1. Add a new credit card to your account and save it.
  2. Sign in to your account at silhouetteamerica.com and click on Club Silhouette on the left to manage it.
  3. Choose or add the card you want to use and click Save.
