Electrostatic Trays (for flatbed models) and Mats (for roll-through models) hold materials in place by generating a static electricity field beneath the material’s surface.

Electrostatic Mat and Cameo 5 displayed above are sold separately.

Benefits

This electrostatic hold allows materials to be held in place with exact precision and control without the need for any adhesive mat. Whereas a traditional adhesive cutting mat might cause some materials to tear or curl as they are being removed, electrostatic adsorption can enable thinner, more delicate materials to be cut without damaging the material upon completion.

Compatible Materials

The ES Tray and ES Mat can hold materials with the following properties:

  1. Material is solid (non-porous, air does not )
  2. Material has a smooth, non-textured surface
  3. Material is flat/not curled

Successful electrostatic adsorption (the pull strength required to hold materials in place properly during the cutting process) requires a solid, non-porous material surface. Materials such as lightweight printer paper and film materials are excellent candidates, along with many materials offered by Silhouette.

Materials that are not dense enough to be held either need to be placed onto a cutting mat which is then placed onto the electrostatic surface, or you may be able to tape the sides of your material down on the Electrostatic Protection Sheet.

Compatible Machines

Electrostatic technology is compatible with the following machines:

Older Silhouette machines are not compatible with Electrostatic Trays or Mats.

Warnings & Notices

An Electrostatic Protection Sheet should always be used with Electrostatic Trays and Mats to prevent static electric shock, which is not harmful but may be an unpleasant sensation.

Electrostatic products can be used safely by individuals with a pacemaker.
